BirdsBirds are some of the easiest and closest to view. There many different types but the most common are. Blue Wrens. Flame Robins. Black Cockatoo's, seen often when the weather is about to turn, Boobook owls are often heard but not seen at night, along with many other bird calls that I can not yet identify. Wedge Tail Eagles can be seen on most days all you have to do is look high in the sky to see them souring effortlessly, often in pairs. This one actually landed close.
Currawongs can be noisy and often in large numbers.
Marsupials Wallaby's are very common and always come out at night and the early hours of the morning. Wombats also roam around at this hour along with Possums and Bandicoots. Small Bats are also sometimes seen. Echidnas do come out in the day and are often seen on the walking tracks.
Frogs. There are two species of frogs at the Raoul Bay Retreat, they are endemic to Tasmania and will sing to you every night.
